Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) is a network protocol that provides centralized Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) for users who want to access network resources. AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) is a framework that manages authentication or who wants to access the resources, authorization or what all resources the user is permitted to access and what all operations the user can perform, and accounting or how much resources the user is consuming during the access. RADIUS is an application layer protocol that is defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and is widely used by ISPs and other enterprises for the management of AAA.
How does the RADIUS protocol work? In this article, we would discuss that in detail.
