How to install GPG?

GNU Privacy Guard or GnuPG or GPG is a complete and free implementation of the OpenPGP standard as defined by PGP. GPG can be installed on Windows and Linux following some simple and easy steps. How to install GnuPG on Windows?

To install GPG on Windows, you would need to download the latest stable version of GnuPG for Windows and install it. You would also want to install Thunderbird and Enigmail, which will make sending encrypted emails easier.

So, in short:
1. Install the latest stable version of GnuPG for Windows.
2. Install Thunderbird for Windows.
3. Install Enigmail, which is an add-on for Thunderbird. (How to sign and encrypt emails using GPG?)

How to install GnuPG in Linux?

For Linux, if GnuPG is not installed on your system by default, you would need to install a couple of libraries, tools, and optional software packages along with GnuPG.

Here is the list:

1. Install the most recent stable version of GnuPG for Linux.
2. Download the following libraries: Libgpg-error, Libgcrypt, Libksba, Libassuan.
3. You may like to install Pinentrey. Pinentry is a collection of passphrase entry dialogs that is required for almost all usages of the GnuPG stable.
4. GPGME is a standard library to access GnuPG functions from programming languages.
5. GPA is a graphical front-end for GnuPG.
6. Dirmngr is an optional tool for use with GnuPG stable. Please find all the listed items here.
