What is Sniffing Attack?

Sniffing attack is an attack in which attackers capture network traffic and steal sensitive data for malicious purposes. Attackers often use a sniffer for this purpose. A sniffer or packet analyzer is a computer program or a piece of hardware that can intercept and capture packets that pass over a network. A sniffer captures a network packet, decodes the packet’s raw data, finds out values of different fields of the packet, and analyzes the content of the packet.
