IPv6 Addressing

What is an IPv6 address?

An IPv6 address is a 128-bit numerical address that is assigned to a network interface or a set of network interfaces. When a network packet in an IPv6 network contains an IPv6 address as the destination address, the network packet is delivered to the network interface or the set of network interfaces to which the IPv6 address is assigned.

An IPv6 address is 128-bit long and there can be different types of IPv6 addresses. In this article, we would discuss different types of IPv6 addresses in detail.
