What is Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)?
Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) is a software interface between an operating system and platform firmware. It replaces old BIOS or Basic Input/Output System that used to be present in older computers. UEFI is also considered to be more secure as it supports a secure boot process and prevents malware like rootkits from tampering with the boot loader or critical operating system files. UEFI also supports IT administrators to diagnose and repair a computer remotely even when the system does not have any operating system installed. It was not possible with BIOS as while using BIOS, an IT administrator had to be physically present in front of a computer to diagnose and repair the system when there was no operating system installed on the system.
