What is adware?

Adware is advertising-supported software that displays advertisements to users to generate revenue. Some adware may be legitimate. They may display ads to a user as per the user’s consent. But, attackers use adware to display unwanted advertisements to a user and earn illegitimate revenue thereby. Some adware programs also act as spyware. They collect sensitive data about users and send them to the attackers.

How does adware infect a system and how to prevent it? In this article, we would discuss that in detail.
