What is RAID?

RAID or Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks or Redundant Array of Independent Disks is a data storage technology that combines multiple physical disk drives into one or more logical units to provide data redundancy or performance or both. Using RAID, data is distributed across multiple drives so that it can provide data redundancy or performance, or both. There are several RAID levels and at each RAID level, the data is distributed across multiple drives in a different way. Let’s try to understand what the different RAID levels are and how they work.
