What is DHCP?
DHCP or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol is a network protocol using which a device in a network gets an IP address and other network configuration parameters from a server. In order to be able to communicate with other devices in a TCP/IP network, a device needs to get its IP address and other network configuration parameters. One way to provide those to a device is to assign an IP address and the network configuration parameters manually to the device. But, this may not be feasible for a large network. The DHCP protocol is a network protocol that provides IP addresses and network configuration parameters dynamically to devices in a network.
