What is File Integrity Monitoring?

File Integrity Monitoring or FIM is software that monitors critical files, operating system components, configuration files, and network devices for unauthorized changes and alerts the administrators about the changes. It can even generate and send reports for auditing. File Integrity Monitoring (FIM) software is very useful in detecting malware. It can also help in achieving compliance with regulations like the PCI DSS or HIPAA.
