What is the Cyber Kill Chain?

The cyber kill chain is a model that defines the steps taken by cyber attackers in a cyberattack. The term kill chain is originally related to a military concept that defines the steps that an enemy uses to attack a target. The steps consist of identification of the target, dispatching a force to the target, decision and order to attack the target, and destruction of the target. And, breaking an opponent’s kill chain refers to the defense strategy to prevent the attack. An American aerospace, defense, security, and advanced technologies company Lockheed Martin Corporation adapted this concept to information security. And, the security model is called the cyber kill chain.

How does the cyber kill chain model work? And, what strategy can we take to break the cyber kill chain? In this article, we would discuss that in detail.
